| Got my copy of Johannes today and am ripping it now! I'm going to have to find a way to get it to play on a region one. I read about Dvd Shrink so maybe that will work? Or does even ripping it off the dvd remove the region code? I have no idea how that really works. | |

| I hope you can see, it is absolutely fantastic.Funny movie! Stefan is great. I think the program DVD Shrink can remove the region code 2. If not, try to use the program AnyDVD.
I have also Kurteist Folk and even though I don't understand Icelandic, the interpretation of Stefan is very intense, powerful and moving. It is worth seeing too.

| I don't know, offhand, about programmes for Windows/PCs for ripping DVDs, but again, I suggest trying to watch it with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], because [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], although I've never had the chance to try it out. Forgive for the video tutorial being done on a Mac, the options are the same on Windows/PCs. I hope this helps, because upon researching, this is the only programme I've found that is free. | |

| I bought and downloaded Aimersoft Dvd ripper and was able to watch it on my Zune with subtitles! I must say I felt incredibly bad for Johannes and a little uncomfortable about his situation and spent most of the movie anticipating Stefan... omg! That was when the movie just totally turned around for me! The man is absolutely brilliant! That was when I started to actually chuckle during this dark comedy! Stefan just plays the covert drug dealer awesomely and the whole brawl scene was just fantastic! I think it's more then being a fan of his that his showing up turned the whole movie around for me... his comedic timing is just spot on and he can pull off friendly yet evil bad guy so well! Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts on Johannes or rather Diddi...heheh! Also nice to know I've been pronouncing Reykjavik correctly! | |

| What format did you rip it in and are the subtitles hard or soft coded?
I'm basically asking if you'd be willing to share this with us? I think we're all adult enough to watch it once and delete the file, deciding if we want to buy it for ourselves.

| Did you see it! I'm happy! I find Johannes a really fun movie, with a typically Icelandic comedy. The protagonist is Laddi (Johannes) famous Icelandic actor. And Diddi (Stefan) is fantastic. With its incredible charm and porsche black plays beautifully the role of the sympathetic drug dealer. The scene in the bathroom is wonderful, Stefan is great. I'm sorry that he have a minor role, the opposite of Kurteist Folk. Have you seen the extras and all the madness of Stefan behind the scenes? | |

| I ripped it after selecting it to rip with subtitles, so does that mean it's a hard code? Also, the end theme song was sung by the cast, including Stefan of course! And I'd be happy to share with you guys. Stefan doesn't appear though until about 45 min into the film. I have it in my google drive folder so if ya'll want to see it, give me your email that goes with your google drive and we can share!
And I haven't watched the extras yet though I did rip those too, they didn't have subtitles available though.
And yes, I loved the bathroom scene with Stefan too! Heheh....

| Okay, since the google drive thing didn't work, I uploaded it to 4shared. I think you have to make a free account to get to the link to download. So here's the link to 'Johanne's'. Working on uploading the extras too. There's subtitles for 'Johanne's' but not the extras. But Stefan has several good, long bits in the 30 min extra. | Soft code means that, but default, the subtitles don't have to come up automatically. Hard code means they are a part of the film itself, that you cannot turn them off because they are incorporated into the video. I'll know more once I've downloaded the video.
No, Google Dive won't let you share videos, that's why they bought YouTube. If you can upload over 15 minute videos, then you could make it a private video people can only see if they have the link you're given.
I suggest, if others have trouble with 4Shared, uploading to RapidShare.

| Subtitles are hard coded, part of the video file, and if people make a 4Shared account, they can just watch the files on the site with the links given. | |
